Every day Tacoma trash removal residents throw away tons of garbage. Unfortunately, it can't all be recycled or reused, and so the city has to pick up this trash once a week. However, over the past few years the amount of trash being thrown away has been increasing. The city council has decided that for this reason they need to cut back on the days that their trucks collect garbage; simply because there's not enough space on the dump trucks!

What is Tacoma's Trash Pickup Schedule?

The Tacoma Department of Public Works announced that their trash pickup days have been cut by a week. Trash will now be collected on Wednesday instead of Saturday. This change is effective from Monday, January 15th through Friday, January 19th. The city says that this change will help to "streamline services and improve the overall efficiency of the waste management system."

Residents are being asked to use the blue recycling carts when collecting their trash. Carts can also be picked up from participating businesses. All recyclable materials must be placed in the blue cart and put away properly for collection.

When Did the Change Happen?

On Saturday, September 24th the city of Tacoma trash removal will no longer pickup trash. This change affects all residents and businesses in the city. The switch to a weekly schedule was made due to budget cuts. Auburn Junk Removal has been doing this for several years now. Weekly trash pickups save the city money by reducing the amount of waste that needs to be disposed of. There are still collection days every week, but they are on different days for each area of the city.

What Impact Will this Have?

The City of Tacoma has cut the number of trash pickup days from 7 to 5 in an effort to reduce waste. This will have a significant impact on the amount of trash that is collected and disposed of. The city estimates that the reduced pickup days will lead to an increase in waste volume by 124,000 pounds each month. This increase in waste will require additional disposal methods, which will cost the city more money.

How Can I get Rid of My Trash on Tacoma's New Schedule?

Tacoma's new trash pickup schedule has caused some confusion among residents. The city reduced the number of days it picks up trash from once every week to once every two weeks.

Here are some tips on how to get rid of your trash during the new schedule:

· Make sure you have a regular garbage pickup day and time. If you don't, your garbage will be picked up on the next scheduled day and time.


·Put all of your recyclable materials in one container. Don't put recyclable materials in with your regular trash.


·Make sure your yard is clean before your garbage is picked up. Garbage that is left on the curb will be picked up regardless of whether or not it is clean.

·Put your garbage in a sturdy, leak-proof container.
